When Do the Fall Colors Peak in Colorado?

The color season normally starts around the second week in September, at least in the high mountains. If you trek to some of the "super-high" mountains, you may see some hints of change.

If you're super lucky, you'll see the mountains blanketed in snow providing the perfect backdrop for bright gold leaves.

What Type of Colors Will You See in Colorado?

That really all depends on where you're at. Some cities and towns may have planted maples, oaks, and other "non-native" trees to add some tree diversity.

In the high mountains, you'll mainly see a bright golden yellow from the aspen stands. There could also be some oranges, reds, and browns from some of the other species.

In the desert areas, you see the golden yellows from aspens, as well as some reds and oranges from the scrub trees scattered around.

Regardless of the different colors, there's no better place to be than in the mountains during fall.
