Summertime in Colorado is not only great for the weather, but some of the produce that comes with the season. Many of us eagerly await certain items to hit the shelves at the grocery stores and local Northern Colorado farmers' markets.

One of the most notable produce items that comes out of Colorado has to be the Palisade Peach. Many different varieties can be found throughout the season; however, I tend to try and wait for the biggest, juiciest peaches that are coming out at the end of harvesting.

It is no surprise that people love what comes out of Colorado when it comes to food. Some of these items can only be found in the state and only stick around for a few short weeks. While we may have highlighted produce items such as Palisade peaches, Pueblo chiles, Rocky Ford melons, and Olathe sweet corn, Colorado grows so much more. Our state is one of the leaders in the production of potatoes in the nation. Apples are also grown on the Front Range and the western slopes of Colorado, and greenhouse tomatoes are a popular pick due to the short growing season in the state.
