CPW Tracks Lone Wolf From Colorado’s Copper Creek Pack

It seems that a wolf from the Copper Creek wolf pack has been eluding Colorado Parks and Wildlife. The wolf was discovered on a game trail camera by Colorado Parks and Wildlife after the placement of the devices in the area where the Copper Creek wolf pack was relocated from. It is a good thing they did as a single wolf that appears to be a pup was photographed.

According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, staff returned to the area to check the cameras on September 20, biologists confirmed that the wolf in the photo is an uncollared wolf that could potentially be a wolf pup from the wolf pack.

The Copper Creek wolf pack was relocated from the area earlier in September after depredations in the area. Since this wolf does not have a GPS positioning collar, officials and biologists had no way to know about the wolf or its whereabouts.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is currently undergoing a capture operation to return the wolf to the Copper Creek pack. This wolf is believed to be the fifth wolf pup in the pack. Initially, it was believed that there were only four wolf pups that were born in Colorado this year.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife did not and will not disclose the location where the trail cameras were placed to keep the officials, the public, residents, and animals safe during the capture and relocation operation.
