A Popular Restaurant in Greeley is Closing Down After 16 Years in the Community
The Tavern at St. Michael's Square in Greeley is closing after 15 years, and I am so bummed! The restaurant/bar opened back in 2010.
According to visitgreeley.com, Chef Chad Young stepped into the project while between jobs in 2010, and he and his wife, Wendy, purchased the restaurant/bar outright in 2012.
The shocking news was announced on the Tavern at St. Michaels Square Facebook page on the morning of May 6th, 2026, and by the looks of the post comments, the Greeley community is pretty bummed.
For me, this is upsetting because I had my baby shower on the patio, which was often rented out for community events and parties. The patio was a great location, and the food and drinks were reasonably priced and perfect for the special occasion.
Between now and May 24, their final day in business, The Tavern at St Michael's Square will offer drink and food specials.
Some of their most popular dishes are their green chili soup, buffalo wings with multiple sauce and rub options, bangers and mash, lasagna rolls, fish and chips, and my personal favorite, the mac and cheese with penne pasta, parmesan sauce, and their famous green chili.
The Tavern at St Michael's Square also offered catering for large and small parties on-site or off-site. According to the Tavern at St. Michael's Square website.
After the 2020 pandemic, The Tavern at St. Michael's Square became experts at to-go orders, making ordering over the phone or online quick and easy.
So be sure to take a trip to Greeley before May 24th to enjoy their hearty menu of comfort food, signature drinks, and delicious desserts before they close down for good.
