Police Warn of New Scam Focusing on Northern Colorado Residents
I don't think there is something that I loathe more than scammers. I get calls every so often from all-expense-paid vacations, vehicle warranties, tax scams, and more. More often than not, I just ignore the calls.
Some people may not have the luxury of being able to ignore the scam calls for various reasons. Police in Northern Colorado are warning of a new scam that is targeting residents in our region.
The Severance Police Department alerted residents to a scam involving raising money for the high school football team. These scammers are telling residents they are raising money for the Severance High School football team. This is not legitimate.

The Severance Police Department says that the Severance Football Team is not actively trying to raise money at this time, and the people who are calling are trying to get the money from a Texas area code, 972.
If Severance residents, or any residents in Northern Colorado, get a call from someone who is asking for money for the Severance High School Football Team, you should not sent the scammers money and promptly hang up the phone.
The Severance Police Department does not want to see anyone send money to a scammer. When you do receive calls such as this, it is best to call the entity yourself to confirm that the fund raising effort is in fact true.
Said Severance Police Department Chief, Ken Chavez, in a Facebook post. For more information on this scam that is targeting Severance residents, see the Facebook post below.
