Colorado Wants You to Know These 17 Items are Banned from Recycling
Most of us try to do our best for the environment by recycling. It's a somewhat easy way to do our part.
That said, some communities around Colorado make it difficult to participate in recycling by not offering it, or charging an arm and a leg for the service.

The State of Colorado is trying to change that with the Producer Responsibility Program making recycling free for residents of Colorado. That, however, will take some time to make an impact on recyclable trash avoiding landfills.
Why is Recycling in Colorado So Difficult?
It's not just Colorado who suffers from difficult recyling practices. There's a vast amout of things that can't be recycled. Even if it has that little recycle circle on it.
It can also be time consuming for families and individuals to seperate recyclables and trash. Double-checking each thing that needs to go into a certain bin, not knowing what can and can't be recycled and lack of interest because just throwing it away is easier.
Coloradans produce over eight million tons of trash each year. That's and average of over nine pounds of trash every day per person. Cue the image of the trash heap from Idiocracy.
15.8% of waste was diverted from landfills in 2022. Colorado's goal is to divert 35% by the year 2026. We better get moving, because that's a dramatic increase.
Hopefully, recycling becomes easier for the residents of Colorado and we can avoid massive trash mountains through out the state.
