Way out on Colorado's eastern plains due east of Colorado Springs and almost reaching the Kansas border is a place known as Aroya which, interestingly, only consists of an old, abandoned schoolhouse and a cemetery, the former of which we'll take a look at today.

Abandoned Schoolhouse Sits Alone in Aroya Colorado

The schoolhouse is located near the intersection of Colorado Highways 287 and 24 in a flat, and desolate part of the otherwise gorgeous state.

Again, it's important not to attempt to visit any old, abandoned building in person as not only is it typically unsafe, but it's also usually illegal.

The old schoolhouse has boarded-up windows, a padlock on the front entrance, and a ceiling that looks like it could collapse at any time.

In addition, odd concrete slabs with numerous deep, dark holes are found just outside the building, while things like bicycles, appliances, and even an old mattress are found inside.

It becomes even more clear that exploring this property is a bad idea upon discovering the phrase, "No Trespassing" painted on the front exterior wall of the schoolhouse.

However, you can take a virtual tour of this creepy old property below:
