Roughly four years before the world-renowned cartoon based in the small Colorado town of South Park hit the small screen, Trey Parker and Matt Stone studied together at the University of Colorado in Boulder and, with the help of some friends, released the independent cult classic, "Cannibal! The Musical."

Now, a group based in Grand Junction, Colorado is bringing a stage version of the wacky film to the historic Avalon Theater for two nights next month.

Grand Junction Colorado Group to Bring Cannibal! The Musical to the Stage

Geek Parties Theater is bringing its stage production of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's Cannibal! The Musical to the Avalon Theatre in downtown Grand Junction on November 15th and 16th, 2024.

The original film was released back in 1993 and is loosely based on the infamous Alferd Packer, a man accused of cannibalizing members of his group after being stranded in an especially brutal Western Colorado winter.

The stage version that will debut at the Avalon Theatre next month will be directed by David Kenworthy and will star Hollis Herald as Alferd Packer and Kelsey McCarty as Polly Pry, an investigative journalist who helped Packer get exonerated of the cannibalism charges.

The production was also funded by a significant list of local organizations and proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Avalon Theater Foundation and the Museums of Western Colorado.
