Luna comes from the Latin name for moon, while Bella translates to "beautiful" in a number of languages, and of course, Daisy is the name of a beloved flower.

How Do Colorado's Most Famous Dog Names Compare to National Trends?

If we look at the most popular dog names across the nation in 2025, we find a number of consistencies with the most popular in Colorado.

For instance, the six most popular dog names in the United States are, in order from most to least popular, Luna, Bella, Charlie, Max, Daisy, and Lucy.

Bella and Luna are also in the top five for Kansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, while names like Charlie, Max, and Bear are the most popular in Utah, and names like Sadie and Ollie are currently popular in Wyoming.
